Conducting works to increase the University’s contributions to national and international scientific, research, and technological development processes, the Project Development Unit carries out activities to improve the capacity of the University in the preparation, implementation, and assessment of national and international Research and Development (R&D) projects with external support.
Within this scope, the Unit provides support to researchers in the project development processes by using the both the national and international R&D fund resources of the University, collaborates with the researchers in implementing the prepared projects in a short period of time and by cooperating with domestic and foreign organizations in creating R&D projects, organizes various trainings, workshops, seminars and contact meetings that increase the awareness of project preparation within İKÜ. The Unit also acts as a consultant to its researchers and collaborates with external stakeholders for the development of innovative R&D projects within the University in accordance with the framework of university-industry collaboration.
The Project Development Unit was included in the Technology and Project Support Unit with the decision of the Senate on January 26, 2017 and started its activities as the Project Development Coordination Office. It is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Özge Çelik.

2. Research Infrastructure Support:
The program of the Ministry of Development supports research projects of universities and research centers of public institutions through research infrastructure activities.
3. Development Agency Support:
Development Agencies may provide financial and technical assistance to regional actors in the areas identified in the regional plan and programs as well as the annual work program and related application guidelines in accordance with the pre-determined eligibility criteria for speeding up the development process of the region and implementing critical activities for the region.
1) EU Horizon2020 Program:
EU Framework Program, coordinated by TÜBİTAK in Turkey, is a funding program that supports R&D projects which enable the development of products, processes, and services that create added value in Europe. The Horizon2020 Program, to be conducted by the EU between 2014 and 2020, which is a new period Research and Innovation Framework Program with a budget of approximately 80 billion Euros, consist of sub-program titles such as scientific perfectionism, industrial leadership and struggling against social problems.

These programs include R&D project support granted within the scope of bilateral cooperation agreements made by Turkey with other countries in the fields of science, research, and technology.

3)TÜBİTAK Multilateral International Programs:
The related programs include multilateral international programs in which Turkey actively participates in the activities of various European science and research programs such as COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology), EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organization) and ESA (European Space Agency) as well as the activities of international organizations such as NATO, OECD, and UNESCO. Within the scope of the programs, the participation of Turkish scholars in various scientific activities carried out by relevant organizations is also supported.
